Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Trounce Whitko Wildcats By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen easily dispatched Whitko Wildcats on Saturday, 18-0. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen got on the board in the top of the first inning after Will Hartzke hit a grand slam to center field, Maddux Kuhnle drew a walk, scoring one run, Gage Spychalski was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Izaiah Bute drew a walk, scoring one run, and Kamdon Putz was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Walker Hawn tripled down the left field line, Kuhnle tripled to center field, and Shawn Nowacki doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen added one run in the third after Landon Johns hit a sacrifice fly. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen scored six runs on three hits in the top of the fourth inning. Gunnar Eby drew a walk, scoring one run, Jayden Pyle hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Carson Smoker induced Noah Deeds to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Johns singled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run. Braedyn Smith (2-1) earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking one. Crew Ebbinghouse took the loss for Whitko Wildcats. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering eight runs on two hits, striking out none and walking four. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen accumulated nine hits in the game. Hartzke and Johns were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Hartzke and Johns were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Nowacki led Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game. Nowacki stole two bases. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
