Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen Defeat St Joseph Huskies JV Behind Strong Performance From Huemmer

April 13, 2026 vs. St Joseph Huskies JV Huemmer struck out 10 batters as the starter led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen past St Joseph Huskies JV 6-3 on Monday at St. Joe High School Northfield Athletic Complex. Huemmer surrendered four hits and three runs over five innings while walking six. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen opened the scoring in the first after Valdez singled, scoring one run. A single by Criniti gave St Joseph Huskies JV the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first. Franks grounded out, which helped Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen tie the game at two in the top of the second. St Joseph Huskies JV took the lead in the bottom of the third. Criniti grounded out, scoring one run, to give St Joseph Huskies JV the lead, 3-2. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen captured the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fifth after Chester walked, and Mercado singled , each scoring one run. Cosey started the game for St Joseph Huskies JV. Summers tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen in relief. The southpaw surrendered zero hits, striking out three and walking none. Valdez, Fazio, Franks, and Mercado each collected one hit for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Valdez, Fazio, Franks, Mercado, and Chester each drove in one run for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Darnell paced Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game.
