By GameChanger Media Gaeton Groninger drove in four runs on one hit to lead Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen past Prairie Heights Junior Varsity Panthers 21-1 on Saturday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Groninger walked in the first inning, scoring one run, and singled in the third inning, scoring one. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen scored 11 runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Tommy Hoover doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, Cayson Meyer was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Jack Taylor singled, scoring one run, Kole Neace singled, scoring one run, Andrew Toney drew a walk, scoring one run, Hoover singled, scoring one run, and Groninger singled, scoring one run. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Hoover was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Groninger drew a walk, scoring one run, Toney scored after tagging up, and an error scored two runs. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Gavin Franks walked, Toney tripled to center field, Hoover walked, Liam Hacker scored after tagging up, and Chase Semak tripled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Semak earned the win for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking three. Braedon Yoder took the loss for Prairie Heights Junior Varsity Panthers. The pitcher went one inning, allowing five runs (three earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking three. Jackson Chlebek appeared in relief for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen collected 13 hits in the game. Meyer, Toney, and Hoover each collected two hits for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Franks, Toney, and Groninger led the team with two walks each. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen turned one double play in the game. Hayden Montgomery went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Thor Peterson and Montgomery each collected one hit for Prairie Heights Junior Varsity Panthers.
