By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen took Monday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Concord Varsity Minutemen. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Izaiah Bute singled, scoring one run. Concord Varsity Minutemen got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after Parker Schrock singled down the right field line, and Mark Herman hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Braedyn Smith singled down the left field line, which helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth. Concord Varsity Minutemen took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the seventh thanks to two walks. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen captured the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh after Drew Ginter singled to center field, Kamdon Putz grounded into a fielder's choice, and Bute singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Noah Deeds earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The pitcher gave up one hit and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking five. Noah Norwood took the loss for Concord Varsity Minutemen. The pitcher went one inning, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking two. Colton Handley started on the hill for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starter surrendered four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out three and walking four. Joey Hauger stepped on the mound first for Concord Varsity Minutemen. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking none. Smith led Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Ginter went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen in hits. Bute stole two bases. Number eight hitter, Schrock, showed the depth of Concord Varsity Minutemen's lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Herman, Myles Jones, and Schrock each drove in one run for Concord Varsity Minutemen. Jones led Concord Varsity Minutemen with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Next up for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen is a game at NorthWood Varsity Panthers on Wednesday.
