By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen took Friday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Northridge Varsity Raiders at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh when Shawn Nowacki singled, scoring one run. Both teams were strong on the bump. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen pitchers struck out five, while Northridge Varsity Raiders sat down nine. Northridge Varsity Raiders opened the scoring in the third after JT Tabor singled, scoring one run. Izaiah Bute hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen tie the game at one in the bottom of the third. Northridge Varsity Raiders took the lead in the top of the fourth. A wild pitch scored one run, to give Northridge Varsity Raiders the upper hand, 2-1. Bute singled to center field, which helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen tie the game at two in the bottom of the fifth. Drew Ginter (4-0) earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starter gave up six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Aveary Johnson took the loss for Northridge Varsity Raiders. The southpaw went six innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) on two hits, striking out nine and walking four. Bute led Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-2 on the day. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen turned one double play in the game. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Bute made the most plays with six. Tabor led Northridge Varsity Raiders with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Luke Mann went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Northridge Varsity Raiders in hits. Next up for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen (9-4, NLC 5-1) is an away game at Whitko on Saturday.
