Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Beat NorthWood 8-5

By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen took down NorthWood Varsity Baseball 8-5 on Friday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were the first to get on the board in the first when Braedyn Smith singled, scoring two runs. A single by Izaiah Bute, a ground out by Kamdon Putz, and a single by Smith helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen extend their early lead in the second. Drew Ginter (6-0) earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking four. Nate Dutkowski took the loss for NorthWood Varsity Baseball. The hurler went two innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking three. Landon Johns collected the save. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen accumulated 12 hits in the game. Smith drove the middle of the lineup, leading Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Bute, Noah Deeds, Gage Spychalski, Putz, and Smith each collected two hits for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Deeds stole two bases. Mason Bogan and Aidan Jones each drove in one run for NorthWood Varsity Baseball. Nathan Shrock went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead NorthWood Varsity Baseball in hits. Connor Reed stole two bases.
